Blunkett meets apprentices

APPRENTICES who have started work at Sheffield’s former Cadbury’s factory were met by Sheffield MP David Blunkett.

The Labour politician, who represents Brightside and Hillsborough, called into the site on Livesey Street, which is now owned by Kraft.

He met confectionery and engineering apprentices and they shared experiences and discussions on how to encourage more young people into apprenticeships.

Managers spoke about recent investment into the manufacturing site and provided an employers’ perspective on how training apprentices can lead to a more motivated workforce.

Mr Blunkett described the company’s recruitment of apprentices as ‘very encouraging’. Six more are due to be hired over the next year.
