SHEFFIELD Royal Society for the Blind has launched a £50,000 appeal for a mobile unit.

The unit will provide information and advice to people about eye health and the support available to people with a visual impairment.

Sheffield Heeley MP Meg Munn said: “The health of our eyes in something that affects us all, which is why I was delighted to launch Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind’s new fundraising appeal for a new mobile information unit.

“Around half of all sight loss can be avoided, so it’s really important that people can easily get access to expert information about how to look after their eyes.

“The new mobile unit would mean that people of all ages, in communities across Sheffield, will benefit from this expert advice.

“It would also help people with visual impairments get information about products to help them live independently.”

Lord Mayor Coun John Campbell joined the launch.
