A Sheffield flat was left damaged in a fire during the early hours of this morning.
The blaze took hold in the apartment in Edge Well Crescent, Birley Edge, at about 1.40am.

It is understood the property was empty and nobody was injured.
Crews from Rivelin, Elm Lane and Sheffield Central fire stations spent over an hour tackling the blaze.

A fire service spokesperson said the cause is under investigation.
