Bishop to sample street life

THE Bishop of Doncaster is to take to the streets – and the shop floor – to get a taste of town life.

Peter Burrows will be out and about experiencing very different aspects of Doncaster over the next few days.

On Saturday he will join the Street Pastors for their late-night shift on the streets of Doncaster as they look out for and care for those enjoying the night life.

He said: “The Street Pastors do an amazing job. Late at night, young people can be vulnerable on the streets of our towns and cities and it’s good to know there are people there to support them.”

Then on Monday he will be spending a day on the shop floor with a shift at furniture chain store DFS, the head office of which is in Doncaster.

He said: “I look forward to meeting workers and hearing what life is like for them in one of our national stores.”

The visits build on the Bishop’s initiative to get to know Doncaster and learn more about its history, its people and potential through regular contacts with people at every level of the civic, civil and commercial life of the town.
