Birdwell Wheeler Dan is fifth in strong field

Birdwell Wheeler Dan Taylor rode in the Lancaster CC 10 mile time trial at Levens in the Lake District. In a strong field of 101 riders his time of 20m 0s - a speed of 30mph! - was good enough for 5th overall.

Paul Heggie rode in the YCF 15 mile time trial at South Cave and in perfect weather conditions recorded a personal best time of 33m 13s- good enough for 2nd in the 60-69 age group.

Despite the wet weather there was a good turn out for the Birdwell Wheelers Cote de Holme Moss 100 km Audax cycling event. 49 riders from South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire joined club members Tony Lodge, Paul Mynett, Tom Booth, Neil Addy, Bob Waterhouse ,Tony Lodge, Rodger Holmes, Roger Bacon,D ave Hudson and Austin Watson on the ride and 58 riders finished the 2,069 metres of climbing over Holme Moss to Glossop returning through Hope finishing with the final climb up to Bradfield. The first rider was back in 4h 20m and the ladies social ride arrived back five minutes before the cut off time of 6pm.

Tuesday night saw the second of three 15-mile club time trials at Thurnscoe. Dan Taylor was fastest in 35m 33s while Paul Mason won on handicap with an adjusted time of 34m 42s.

The last of the three will be next Tuesday at Thurnscoe with the first rider off at 7pm.
