Bikers’ anger at road closure

Have your say

AN army of motorcyclists hit the road to protest against plans to close a route in the Peak District.

More than 150 bikers banded together to show their opposition to the Peak District National Park Authority’s plans to close the historic road Chapel Gate.

Organised by Peaks and Derbyshire Vehicle Users Group, the protest was supported by the Trail Riders Fellowship, the Green Lane Association and other motoring and motorcycling clubs. They greeted staff going into work at Park Authority’s headquarters in Bakewell in time with an open letter asking for an equitable solution.

A further protest is planned for March, when the issue will next be debated.
