A motorcyclist was killed after collision on a bend on a South Yorkshire road last night.

The 44-year-old, from Barnsley, was travelling along the A637 Barnsley Road towards Darton when the bike was involved in a smash with a silver Citroen Xsara Picasso travelling in the opposite direction.

Police said the motorbike left the road and ended up down an embankment.

The rider suffered fatal head injuries and died at the scene.

Witnesses or anyone who saw the two vehicles beforehand should call police on 101.
