Biker hurt in wood crash

A MOUNTAIN biker who fell off his bike in Sheffield woodland and hit his head was carried to an ambulance by mountain rescue team volunteers.

The biker, who was cycling in Wharncliffe Woods, off Station Road, Deepcar, when he came off .

His front wheel had hit and rock and he was thrown over his handlebars while his feet were clipped to his pedals.

His hip took the brunt of the fall but he also hit his head.

He was located by paramedics but they needed help in carrying him to their ambulance one mile away.

Members of Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team drove their Land Rover ambulance closer to the crash site and loaded the biker into the back, to transport him to the ambulance.
