Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding how a cyclist came off her bike in Sheffield city centre have concluded.

Star journalist Rachael Clegg sustained serious injuries including a broken wrist and fractured jaw in the incident on Friday, September 27.

First indications were that Rachael, who was cycling down Pinstone Street towards the junction of Cambridge Street in the direction of Furnival Gate, was involved in a hit and run collision with a taxi.

However, after a thorough investigation by South Yorkshire Police including viewing CCTV footage, officers have concluded there was no collision.

Police have asked The Star to thank members of the public for their assistance in the probe.

Rachael, who is 32 and living in the Carter Knowle area of Sheffield, is a keen cyclist.

So much so that she recently wrote an article for the newspaper encouraging more people living in the city to get on their bikes. She is now on the road to recovery.
