A project which delivers writing activities in Barnsley has received a £10,000 cash boost.
Writing Yorkshire Limited received the Big Lottery funding for its ‘The Word On The Street’ project.
The organisation will use the funding to develop a programme of writing activities and workshops for adults with disabilities, culminating in a poetry competition.
As well as one-to-one training for five community writing mentors, the project will provide children and adults from disadvantaged backgrounds with creative opportunities to develop literacy, team building and social skills.
The Big Lottery Fund is responsible for giving out 40 per cent of the money raised by the National Lottery and invests more than £670 million a year.
