Better off before EU

Before we signed up to what was just a small trading club at the time we could please ourselves if we wanted a bent banana or a Worcester apple,

It didn’t matter one iota if we baked a Cornish pasty in our own oven or at the small bakery at the Manor Top, we just did it!

We could buy our potatoes by the pound or stone, we could have 20 shillings to the pound and a quarter of spice from the corner shop. Our local chippy could give us fish caught by our fishermen in our coastal waters without the fear of having to share those limited resources with the French or Spanish super trawlers who would then moor up in Grimsby or Hull to unload their catch overlooked by our own trawler owners who they had put on the scrap heap.

We had a steel industry, a coal industry, a car industry, as well as cotton and textile mills in Lancashire and pottery in Staffordshire .

Our politicians were our politicians not subservient to a pack of bureaucrats in Brussels.

This Parliament is so grand, having cost us billions in building and running the place that once a month it has to move the whole place hundreds of miles away to Strasbourg to keep France happy.

You could not make that one up if you tried.

Then we get Nicola Sturgeon, a woman who heads a party in Scotland that wants to leave the United Kingdom but at the same time stands up in London and tells us that we should remain in Europe .

What a kettle of fish this blinkin’ daft Union is.

Let us get out now, we will never have another chance.
