BBC Good Food's Tony Naylor has dined his way around the city to produce his pick of the best places at which to eat, from 'cheap eats' to restaurants which are perfect for a 'special occasion'.
While many of the choices will not surprise you, with Jöro, Juke & Loe and Tonco all among his favourites, there are bound to be some gems on his list which you've not tried before.
21. Napoli Centro
Sheffield is blessed with many great pizzerias but this tiny venue on Glossop Road deserves a special mention, according to BBC Good Food. It is described as a 'shrine to Naples' which delivers 'soft, chewy, beautifully-blistered bases with a range of tempting toppings. Photo: Scott Merrylees
Tonco, on Dyson Place, off Shefffield's Sharrow Vale Road, has quickly established itself as one of the city's best places to eat, even being named in The Good Food Guide's list of Britain's 100 best local restaurants. BBC Good Food called it a 'seasonally-driven, no-waste affair of whip-smart contemporary dishes'. Photo: Danni Maibaum Photo: submit
The Porter Pizza Company on Sharrow Vale Road is another of BBC Good Food's recommendations for 'cheap eats', with the Amore (olives, fennel seed salami, artichoke hearts) and Red Devil (‘nduja, red roquito jalapeños, red onion) among its favourites. 24. The Orange Bird
The Orange Bird, on Middlewood Road, in Hillsborough, Sheffield, is another place which has been named in The Good Food Guide's list of Britain's 100 best local restaurants. BBC Good Food loved its 'modish, sharing dishes', especially the Durban-style ‘chops chutney' - Barnsley chops served on a spiced, almost curried tomato sauce with yellow rice and shrimp sambal.
