Benefit concert set up to help repair Doncaster record shop window
A fundraising benefit concert has been set up to help carry out repairs to a vandalised Doncaster town centre record shop window.
The Notorious Aardvark in Waterdale was attacked by "mindless idiots" who smashed a window at the store which specialises in vinyl and rare records.
A crowdfunding appeal to raise £500 to carry out the repairs has been set up and now musicians will come together on Sunday to help raise even more money for store owner Simon Saynor.
The event will be held from 2pm to 8.30pm at Cask Corner on Cleveland Street and a spokesman said: "A lot of musicians love Simon and all that he has done for them so to thank him and help him get back on his feet, there will be live music from many of his friends.
"Come listen and donate - it is for a very worthwhile cause."
Public donations have already helped raise £440 towards a crowdfunding appeal - set up by a friend of Mr Saynor - to repair the smashed glass.
The appeal, at the crowdfunder.co.uk website, is entitled Replace the Window at the Notorious Aardvark and nearly 30 people have already pledged cash backing to the appeal to get the cash before August 16, otherwise the funding bid will fail.
Mark Loraine, who has set up the appeal wrote: "So, Mr Saynor at the Notorious Aardvark Record Shop has had his window broken by mindless idiots!
"The shop is Doncaster's only real source for vinyl and we need to keep it running. Can we try and help out with a bit of cash from the Doncaster Community and all other friends of the Aark to help replace the window as it is going to be bloomin' expensive to put right ????
"Anything you can give would be a great help."
Crowdfunding is a concept where individuals come together to pledge cash to help various projects take place.
