Beer festival for wedding party

landlord Steve Walters and his wife, Rose, are hosting their bi-annual three-day beer festival at the Scarbrough Arms in Sunderland Street, Tickhill, to coincide with the Royal Wedding weekend.

It kicks off on Friday, April 29 and runs until Sunday, May 1 with a sample of beers and lagers for sale as well as entertainers performing in the marquee at the back of the pub. Members of Tickhill and District Lions will also be manning a barbecue in the car park.

Mining life

photographs of Denaby, Paul Booker’s exhibition of black and white pictures of the former mining village taken during the mid-1970s, opens at Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery next Saturday and runs until June 18.

Easter worship

worshippers in Bawtry can celebrate Easter tomorrow with Holy Communion at St Nicholas Church at 9.30am followed at 12pm by Bawtry Churches Together staging their Act of Witness Easter hymns and readings at the Market Hill cross.

Pub’s toast

REAl ale fans will be at the Palfrey’s Lodge, Cantley, next Wednesday evening to hand over the Doncaster CAMRA Spring Pub of the Season award to the licensee, Malcolm Wilson, and his team.
