Beaches earn top marks

Have your say

NINE beaches much loved by South Yorkshire holidaymakers feature in a list of recommended spots for good water quality and clean bathing.

The beaches - all in Lincolnshire - are included in a list of 461 around the UK recommended by the Marine Conservation Society.

To achieve ‘recommended’ status, all samples taken from the water must pass EU criteria - as opposed to the 95 per cent pass rate required by the European Guideline standard - and local continuous sewage discharges must be properly treated.

Skegness, Ingoldmells South, Chapel St Leonards, Anderby, Moggs Eye Huttoft Beach, Sutton-on-Sea, Mablethorpe Town, Humberston Fitties, and Cleethorpes are the nine beaches given the top marks.
