The beach has returned to Barnsley town centre today, bigger and better than before, open six days a week from Monday to Saturday, for the entire school holidays. The beach was opened by the Mayor of Barnsley Cllr Linda Burgess.

People are invited to come along enjoy an ice cream, take a donkey ride or just sit back and enjoy the live traditional seaside entertainment every Saturday.

Buckets and spades are provided so everyone can build sandcastles to rival the fantastic fortresses constructed last year.
