BBC 5 Live Octoberfest hits Sheffield

A FREE BBC event is heading to Sheffield for three days in October.

Radio 5 Live has announced it will be in the city for Octoberfest from October 11 to 13.

The event is being run in partnership with BBC Radio Sheffield.

Radio 5 live will present a news and sports programmes, audience debates and interactive activities in venues across the city including Tudor Square.

Some of the station’s big names including Nicky Campbell, Shelagh Fogarty, Simon Mayo, Mark Kermode, Stephen Nolan, Robbie Savage and Colin Murray will make the journey north.

Among the hightlights are a world record attempt for the most players in a five-a-side exhibition football match, a live audience broadcast of Fighting Talk, football phone in 606 with Robbie Savage and Jason Roberts and Mark Kermode’s Film Review.

Radio Sheffield editor, Martyn Weston said: “I’m delighted to welcome our 5 live colleagues.

“Octoberfest is a real opportunity for people to join in with topical debates on issues that really affect our city, while having some fun and to getting to know teams from 5 live and BBC Radio Sheffield.”
