Barnsley: '˜We need to learn from our mistakes' - Morais

Barnsley boss Jose Morais has urged his Championship strugglers to learn from their mistakes.

The Reds failed to take advantage of results around them by losing to Ipswich Town on Tuesday night.

It was another hammer blow in the club’s survival fight.

He said: “We need to learn from our mistakes. We need to learn the lessons from this game that sometimes the game is about details, scoring and not conceding.

“Naturally we feel disappointed with the result we couldn’t have. We thought we could win.

“We created some good opportunities in the first half and we didn’t take them.

“We conceded a goal from a set play. I think with some extra concentration then we wouldn’t have conceded.

Football is like this. We need to move on and look forward to the next game.

“We were prepared for their set piece threat, well we thought we were prepared. We had some great chances which we didn’t take and Ipswich defended really well.

“We need to look forward. There’s nothing we can do about previous results now.”

The Reds now have five games to turn their stuttering season around. Wins have been a rarity all campaign with just three victories in their last 27 outings.

And they need to turn that faltering form around fast with time rapidly running out to secure their Championship status.

It was hoped the big derby-day win at Sheffield United would inspire a late revival.

Every game is a cup final between now and the end of the season. But none more so than the huge relegation six-pointer against Bolton.

Victory would see the Reds leapfrog Wanderers and move out of the relegation zone.
