Barnsley town centre is to be transformed into a seaside town for the summer.
The beach will be available to visit from Monday to Saturday every week of the school holidays to give residents not going on holiday this year a taste of the seaside.
It will be officially opened by the Mayor of Barnsley, Coun Linda Burgess, on Wednesday, July 20.
There will be ice creams to buy, donkey rides and live traditional seaside entertainment every Saturday.
Buckets and spades will be provided for children to build sandcastles at the beach, in front of the semi open market.
Coun Burgess, said: “I’m thrilled that Barnsley by the Sea will be back this year, it’s a fantastic opportunity for you and your loved ones to get outside and enjoy some outdoor fun.
"I look forward to opening our very own seaside resort in the heart of our town.”
