A NEW book to be published this month could scare the pants off you - if you live in Barnsley.

Haunted Barnsley documents a vast array of hauntings, spectres and ghost folklore from various locations around the town and surrounding area.

Authors have investigated many of the locations featured in the book.

The book includes local landmarks such as the Mill of Black Monks and the Monk Bretton Priory and detailing the stories behind legendary spectres such as Jack in Irons.

Penned by Richard Bramall and Joe Collins, Haunted Barnsley will be published on September 24.

The paperback is £9.99.
