Barnsley star has League One title ambitionÂ

The Reds have enjoyed an impressive start to life under Daniel Stendel this term and sent out a real statement of intent by beating second-placed Peterborough 4-0 on Saturday.

It was a brilliant showing by Stendel's men, underpinned by two goals from Potts, as they showed they are a force to be reckoned with following their relegation from the Championship last season.

It was their second away win by such a scoreline of the campaign '“ and fourth overall '“ and they are now five points off leaders Portsmouth with a game in hand.

Potts has been a key player this term, even though he missed a couple of games through injury, and has Pompey in his crosshairs.

'We know we should be up there,' he said. 'If we get consistency in our game then we can easily win the league, we just need to find a way to do that.

'We've said that if we turn up we'll steamroll teams, we just have to be consistent and teams that do that get promoted so we just need to follow that up on Saturday (against Luton).'

Potts' first goal at London Road will live long in the memory as he rifled a stunning free-kick into the far corner to put his side 2-0 up at half-time.

And the former Blackpool player was more surprised than most to see the net ripple.

He said: 'To be fair, I never really take free-kicks, but I said to Moncs (George Moncur), '˜Lay me off and I'll have a pop and see what happens', and, thankfully, it went in so I'll take them all day long.'

The Reds must now address their home form as, although they remain unbeaten at Oakwell, they have drawn three of their five games there so far.

They disappointed last time out versus Plymouth and will hope to put that right against Luton on Saturday lunchtime, when the Sky Sports cameras will be in town.

Stendel will be without skipper Adam Davies and midfielder Kenny Dougall.

Goalkeeper Davies is in Wales' squad for their games against Spain and the Republic of Ireland while Dougall is back in an Australia training camp having received a maiden call last month.
