Cameron McGeehan hopes Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw can continue his fine start to the season after the international break.

Bradshaw’s brace last weekend at Millwall took him to seven goals in all competitions so far this season - just one shy of last term’s tally of eight.

The Welshman hit the magical mark of 20 in both seasons whilst he was at League One outfit Walsall.

McGeehan is hopeful he can notch up those sorts of numbers at Oakwell and told BBC Radio Sheffield: “When he was at Walsall he scored quite a few goals when he was there and hopefully he can get those sorts of numbers here.

“He has done well and he will want to score even more. That would really help the team to have him scoring consistently. You need that in your team, you work hard every week and you want someone who can stick it in the back of the net.”

Cometh the hour, cometh the man and Bradshaw’s timely double at the weekend saw Wales’ boss Chris Coleman come calling.

The 25-year-old was not previously named in the squad for their final two World Cup qualifiers, against Georgia and the Republic of Ireland.

But with Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale ruled out Bradshaw got the call to join team-mate Ryan Hedges in the squad.

Both are in contention to play in Georgia tonight and McGeehan believes it will be a great experience for them to be in and around the international set up.

He added: “I’m happy for anyone who is getting called up to represent their country at international level.

“Hedgey has kicked on this season after not playing much last season and Bradders has scored some important goals.

“It is great exposure for them personally and a great experience.”
