Barnsley shop staff raise cash for special care baby unit

Marks & Spencer has chosen Barnsley Hospital’s Tiny Hearts Appeal’ as its charity of the year.

The hospital is fundraising for a new special care baby unit and hopes to raise £1 million for the facility, which will be based alongside the Barnsley Birthing Centre.

Staff at M&S will be taking part in a variety of fundraising activities, including raffles and exercise bike activities.

Finance and Operations Manager, Jean Oldfield, said: “We’re very proud to be supporting the Tiny Hearts Appeal. It’s an appeal close to many peoples’ hearts.

“Our team has got a lot of ideas and plans in order to potentially raise a lot of money for the appeal. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our store to engage with the local community and make a real difference.”
