Barnsley return for Cauley Woodrow should be a blessing for fellow striker Kieffer Moore

Kieffer Moore might well be licking his lips at the prospect of Barnsley team-mate Cauley Woodrow returning to fitness.

Woodrow has been sidelined with a muscle injury sustained in one of his first training sessions at the club following his August move from Fulham and has yet to pull on a red shirt.

The striker is still 10 days away from fitness and Tykes head coach Daniel Stendel reckons Moore will be counting down the days more than most.

The former Ipswich striker enjoyed a hot streak in the middle of August scoring six goals in three games.

That naturally saw opposition teams give the 26-year-old extra attention and Moore has failed to score in his last two games.

It is hardly a drought, but Stendel believes Moore will benefit from having an extra body alongside him in attack.

'When he is fit I think it is difficult for the opposition teams to play against us, and it is also a little bit easier to play for Kieffer Moore,' the German said of Woodrow.

'At the moment teams are concentrating just on Kieffer Moore, but when we have two players there scoring, it is harder to defend.'

Another impressive performer for the Reds this season has been left-back Daniel Pinillos.

The Spaniard believes he is benefitting from a productive pre-season at Oakwell, having arrived in January with the club plummeting towards relegation.

'It is always easier when you start a new season,' Pinillos said. 'You have more time to prepare everything, more time with your team-mates than if you come in January like I did last season.

'I am really happy here, I am happy this season, we have a really good squad and players and everyone is working really hard to try and be in the Championship next season and that is the most important thing.

'We have good players to be there until the end of the season.'

Meanwhile the club have received good news regarding the health of matchday worker Stephen Croft, who suffered a heart attack ahead of Saturday's game with Burton, which was called off.

The 61-year-old, who was airlifted to the Northern General in Sheffield, has regained consciousness and is talking with family.
