Barnsley residents urged to have their say on order to tackle anti-social behaviour

Have your say

Council chiefs in Barnsley want residents to have their say on plans to introduce a Public Spaces Protection Order in the town centre.

The orders are designed to deal with problematic behaviour in an area.

They allow councils to introduce restrictions on the use of the area to make sure that people can enjoy the space, safe from anti-social behaviour.

It is proposed that the PSPO would be introduced in the town centre and surrounding areas including Sheffield Road, Doncaster Road, Cemetery Road and Wood Street.

Anyone failing to comply with the order’s requirements could face a fixed penalty of £100 or a maximum fine of £1,000 if prosecuted.

Visit before midnight tomorrow.
