The concept is based on a similar scheme in North Yorkshire in which people who may feel isolated and alone are invited to enjoy a meal and make new friends. The inaugural friendship lunch will take place at the Toby Carvery in Dodworth on Monday, July 25, from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

Vocalist Susan St Nicholas will be singing songs from yesteryear and a two-course meal costs £6.
