Talismanic winger Adam Hammill has signed his two-year deal, but offers for defenders George Williams and George Smith were both pulled by the club.

And so White is the one remaining player who has to decide on his future.

The Star understands the Reds are hopeful White will sign a new deal before pre-season testing on Monday July 27, but there are also a number of other clubs believed to be interested in securing signature.

“He gives us balance,” Heckingbottom told The Star.

“He’s a very good left-back and he also allows us to get forward, which helps our style of play.

“He’s been troubled by a few injuries during his career, but we’re convinced this is the right club for him - and that’s what I’ve told him. We’ve offered him a deal, so hopefully he stays.”

White joined the Reds in early January on a short-term deal after the Millers terminated his contract.

The ex-England under-19 international quickly settled in at Oakwell with some impressive performances at left-back.

Meanwhile, the Reds continue to pursue Walsall striker Tom Bradshaw and Colchester United midfielder George Moncur.

The Star understands an initial bid for Bradhsaw has been rejected, but the Reds are believed to be ready to make an improved offer in an attempt to land the sought-after striker who bagged 20 goals last season.

A fee for Moncur has been agreed, but Peterborough United have also had a price for the player accepted.

Moncur scored 14 times last term for the U’s and Heckingbottom is a big fan of the player.
