The Reds suffered relegation back to League One last term after a tumultuous campaign.

Boss Paul Heckingbottom jumped ship for Leeds United, only lasting until the end of the season, and replacement Jose Morais ruffled feathers in the dressing room.

The Barnsley hierarchy have hired German gaffer Daniel Stendel to take the club back to the second tier first time around.

Moore, who the club have rejected bids for this summer, is a proven marksman in League One.

Last season Moore, then on loan from Ipswich Town, joined Rotherham following their relegation and the striker hit 13 goals in 22 league outings before joining the Reds in January.

And Moore said: “I obviously want to play in the Championship, but it’ll be just one season here and we’ll be back where we belong.

“The aim for us is to go straight back up at the first attempt, that’s the message.

“It was obviously disappointing to be relegated, but everyone’s coming to training with a smile on their faces and enjoying the atmosphere here.”

Moore played a part in all of the Reds’ pre-season games, but is delighted the league campaign is just around the corner.

The Reds clash with Oxford United on Saturday in their opening encounter as they plot their return to the second tier.

Moore added: “I am thankful pre-season is out of the way and we can start getting to work now.

“Pre-season games are a difficult one because you’re not really playing for anything. You’re kind of just playing to get fit.

“The main thing is we’ve got through it, worked of a lot of stuff with the new gaffer and it’s taking shape now.

“I’m just forward forward to the new season.”
