Barnsley Hospital nominated for listening to patients and staff

Barnsley Hospital has been selected as a finalist in a national awards scheme for the way patient and staff feedback is used to improve healthcare services.

The Friends and Family Test is a way to find out from patients, quickly and anonymously, how they rate their latest experience of NHS care or treatment.

They can provide comments to explain their score and the feedback helps services to focus on areas that need improvement.

The Friends and Family Test Awards were set up to recognise NHS providers who are going the extra mile in their work to listen to patients and staff.

Jill Pell, Head of Patient Experience at Barnsley Hospital, said: “We are absolutely delighted that we have been shortlisted for this award and it is testament to the hard work of not only the Patient Experience Team but staff across the Trust. We have put a lot of effort in to implementing FFT here at Barnsley Hospital so it is nice to be recognised for this work.

“Our team continues to develop work with the FFT initiative and consistently reviews process to increase response rates across new areas.”

Almost 200 entries were received by NHS England.
