Barnsley: Hopes high for a fit Daniel Pinillos as Reds prepare to take on Peterborough UnitedÂ
Assistant head coach Andreas Winkler is hoping Daniel Pinillos will be fit for Barnsley's crunch League One clash at Peterborough. Â
The left-back is a doubt after suffering a knee injury in Tuesday's disappointing 1-1 draw with Plymouth '“ where Argyle scored when he was off the pitch receiving treatment.
The former Nottingham Forest man had previously played every minute for the Reds this season and has been an important player.
So Winkler is keen to have his man in the line-up as they visit high-flying Posh, with fellow left-back Zeki Fryers back in the treatment room.
'He started (the season) really well, doing a really good job,' Winkler said.
'He has played every match 90 minutes. Zeki Fryers is injured so it would be very good if he could play.
'But we have a good squad. We are quite comfortable with the situation.'
Fryers has suffered another knee injury and will be out for a further two to three weeks. The former Crystal Palace defender has yet to play this season.
There is no sign of a return for Cauley Woodrow, who has still not recovered from a hamstring suffered in one of his first training sessions following his move from Fulham.
One player who will be involved at Peterborough is George Moncur and by the noises the midfielder is making, his long-term future could be at Oakwell.
Moncur spent the first half of last season on loan at Peterborough as he struggled to settle in to life in South Yorkshire, but it is a different story this term and he is open to the prospect of a new deal.
'We have spoken a little bit about it and it is all positive news,' the midfielder said.
'But at the minute, I take each day as it comes and will look towards the future a little bit further down the line.
'I am really happy here and my wife has moved up and really enjoys it and I love it. We will see what happens in the future, but I am more than happy where I am.'
On his loan spell at Posh last season, he added: 'It started off well and maybe faded a little bit, but I believe everything happens for a reason and I will go there with high hopes and hopefully we can beat them.
'I was happy to go out and come back and I am happy where I am right now.'
