Andy Yiadom's contract expires at Barnsley this summer

Yiadom’s Barnsley contract is up at the end of June and the player has refused to sign a new deal with the club.

Swansea City and Huddersfield Town have both had bids turned down in the past for the defender, who joined Oakwell from Barnet two seasons ago.

Former Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom is keen to be reunited with the Ghanian international, who made 66 appearances for the Reds, at Leeds United.

Reading are also tracking striker Tom Bradshaw, who they have been interested in for a while, after he scored 12 goals last term.

Meanwhile, former Barnsley youth talent John Stones has been named in England’s World Cup squad.

Twenty-three-year-old Stones won the title with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City this season and will embark on his first World Cup trip after being picked in Gareth Southgate’s 23-man squad yesterday.

Stones has 24 caps to his name after making his debut against Peru in 2014 and has started in England’s last eight fixtures.

His only experience of a senior major tournament was the humiliating 2016 Euros, where England were knocked out by Iceland in the last 16, but the player did not feature in France.

As a teenager, Stones was on standby for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but was not included in the final squad.

However, he has earned a place on the plane this time around after making himself a regular in the national set up over the past couple of years.

The centre-back came through the ranks at Oakwell, before making a big-money switch to the Premier League with Everton - and then moving to the Etihad.

Stones will be joined in Russia by fellow former Red Kieran Trippier.

Ryan Giggs has named three Barnsley players in the Wales squad, which faces Mexico in the United States later this month.

Goalkeeper Adam Davies, winger Ryan Hedges and striker Tom Bradshaw are the trio travelling to California for the May 29 fixture.
