Barnsley fans name new beer to celebrate Wembley trip

A Barnsley brewery asked Reds fans to name a beer to celebrate Barnsley Football Club's trip to Wembley.

The team at Acorn Brewery in Wombwell has produced a new beer to celebrate Barnsley FC’s achievement at reaching the final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final on Sunday, April 3.

Paul Hicks, the brewery’s sales manager and board member of the BFC Supporters Trust, said: “It’s always a challenge for us naming a new beer, so this time we decided to hand over the opportunity to the fans to come up with an original and imaginative name for the new brew and they didn’t disappoint.”

Paint It Red’, a malty red ale, will be made available in pubs and bars across the region in the run up to the final.

Over 200 names were suggested.
