Bar boss appeals to open early

Have your say

THE owner of Sheffield’s troubled Empire Bar is applying for permission to reopen a month early, claiming he will “fully co-operate with police.”

Sheffield Council suspended the licence for three months in December after assaults, the stabbing of a 17-year-old and drug dealing seen by undercover police.

David Hezcko’s application comes a fortnight after his application to install businessman Mohammed Jangir as designated premises supervisor was turned down.

Police said Mr Jangir was “uncooperative” when he ran Club Element, which he denies.

The Empire Bar case is before Sheffield Council licensing board tomorrow.
