The Lord Mayor of Sheffield’s Charity Fundraising Ball will, be held later this month at Hillsborough Stadium.

The black-tie event, on April 30, will raise funds for Lord Mayor Coun Talib Hussain’s chosen charities.

These include Sheffield Helipad Appeal - to fund the construction of a new helipad close to the Major Trauma Centre at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital’s A&E; the community-run Pitsmoor Adventure Playground; Friends of Azad Kashmir - which gives famine relief, educational grants, and training aids to children and young people in the district of Koti in Kashmir, Pakistan; and Mopane Foundation International.

A spokesman for Mopane Foundation International said: “The Lord Mayor is passionate about charitable giving and hence Mopane Foundation International, along with African BMEs in Sheffield, see it fit to ensure he has a grand exit by ensuring he has a fundraising ball for his chosen charities.

“This is in appreciation of Sheffield as a city of sanctuary over the years and the UK community at large hence being part of the initiative giving back to the community that gave us refuge.”
