Bad drivers to get £100 spot fines and points

Have your say

New ‘on-the-spot’ penalties for careless drivers have been welcomed by the Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership.

Police can now deal immediately with drivers caught tailgating or lane hogging instead of having to take motorists to court.

Offenders will receive a fixed penalty of £100 and three licence points.

Chief Inspector Steve Wilson from Derbyshire Police said: “We hope these new powers will deter drivers from taking risks and make our roads safer.”
