Awards hit by illness

The host of the City Region Business Awards has had to pull out at the last minute due to ill health - but the show must go on.

Media commentator Justin Urquhart Stewart has sent his apologies and professional presenter Graham Davies has stepped into the breach.

The black tie event is at Magna in Rotherham tomorrow night, Thursday July 7, and starts with a champagne reception at 6.45pm.

The aftershow party is at the venue - on Sheffield, Road, Templeborough - with live band “We Have You Covered” and a fun casino.

Sir Nigel Knowles, chairman of the Sheffield City Region, is the headline speaker.

The awards pit the victors from four chamber business awards – Doncaster, Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley, and East Midlands – plus the Derbyshire Times, to discover who shall be the ‘first among winners’.

Some 51 finalists in 13 categories are up for glory.

Learning Unlimited, part of Chesterfield College, is associate sponsor.

Sir Nigel Knowles said: “It’s an honour for me to be asked to speak at the Sheffield Star Business Awards on July 7.”
