Award for Sheffield police officer helped 'vulnerable' man while on patrol

A Sheffield police officer has been recognised after helping a man who self-harmed.

PC Dave Shaw was presented with a certificate by Sheffield District Commander Chief Supt Stuart Barton.

A spokesman for Sheffield neighbourhood policing team said: "Chief Superintendent Stuart Barton has commended PC Dave Shaw for protecting the life of a vulnerable person.

"While Dave was on patrol he found a person in need of emergency first aid. They had bled heavily for some time from a self-inflicted wound, but thanks to Dave's efforts, the person was stabilised until paramedics arrived. Well done Dave."
