AN NHS employee and university researcher has been rewarded for her efforts to tackle fuel poverty in South Yorkshire.

Catherine Homer from NHS Rotherham and Sheffield Hallam University won The Heat Hero Award Scheme.

The award recognises those who have made a significant contribution to helping people living in fuel poverty.

She said: “It is worth all the hard work when you know you have helped people to stay warm in their homes.”

Catherine is a researcher at Sheffield Hallam and a health improvement specialist for NHS Rotherham.
