A PROJECT which helps schools and communities in Sheffield recognise bilingual skills has scooped a national honour.

The city’s Home Language Accreditation Project has been given a European Language Label Award in recognition of its efforts in getting young people to gain qualifications in their mother tongue, working with Sheffield Council’s Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service, the Sheffield Children’s university, King Edward VII School and Languages Sheffield.

Clare Allison, Home Language Accreditation project manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised by the EU Language Label. We are proud our pioneering project is achieving positive outcomes for Sheffield’s young people.”
