Award for catering team at NHS Trust

The department has been re-accredited with the Soil Association’s Food For Life Catering Mark bronze award for the second year running.

It is an independent endorsement that the food served by the NHS Trust uses fresh ingredients, which are free from trans fats and unhealthy additives and are better for animal welfare.

Emma Wilson, Head of catering at Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The catering team are very proud to have achieved the Food for Life Catering Mark bronze award for the second year. The award reinforces the importance of providing fresh, high quality, traceable food to patients and staff, much of which has been sourced locally and is contributing to the regional economy.”

“We produce over 20,000 meals a week from fresh and unprocessed ingredients, free from undesirable additives, meat and poultry products bought from farms which satisfy UK animal welfare standards, use only free range eggs and all our fish is from sustainable sources.”
