THE body which has set South Yorkshire’s policing priorities for the last 25 years holds its last-ever meeting tomorrow – before it is abolished in favour of a new elected police and crime commissioner for the county.
The meeting in Barnsley will be the final time the South Yorkshire Police Authority – made up of elected councillors as well as members of the public – will meet to review key crime-fighting developments.
Topics on the agenda include the budget strategy for 2013/14, recruitment programmes, police performance and the handover to the new commissioner.
The authority has also organised a question and answer session with election candidates from 6pm this evening at Rotherham United’s New York Stadium.
