AUDIO: Rotherham 0 Birmingham 0 - Warnock pleased but there's more to come

New Rotherham boss Neil Warnock was encouraged by the start his side made in their bid for Sky Bet Championship safety as they drew 0-0 with Birmingham.

Warnock was handed a 16-game mission to avoid the drop at the Millers after they sacked Neil Redfearn this week and they put in a promising display against Blues, holding on for a point despite finishing with nine men.

However, even though they registered a draw their plight has worsened after MK Dons won at Derby to leave them five points from safety.

Warnock was impressed with what he saw, though, having only had one training session with his new side.

"I thought they did ever so well. I said to the lads if you think that's exciting we've got 15 more of them," he said.

"I thought they were excellent and on another day, we could have took the points but it wasn't to be.

"In the situation we are in we just have to make sure we get 100 per cent out of the players and that's what they did today.

"The lads fought to the end, I have nothing but praise for them. They can only do what they did, we need more points.

"We have to win games we are not expected to. It'll be good to see what these lads can do."

A draw always looked on the cards in a game of low quality and few clear-cut chances.

The best perhaps fell to Birmingham in the second half with Paul Robinson heading wide and Millers goalkeeper Lee Camp producing two saves to deny Clayton Donaldson and Jacques Maghoma.
