Hallamshire Harrier Bayton, winner of the Sheffield Yorkshire Half Marathon last year, is one of the most consistent road and cross country runners in Yorkshire.

The Trafford race is one of the classiest on the fixture list and Bayton, an engineer, will be looking to improve his best time of 30:49 set in this event two years ago.

South Yorkshire will also have competitors in the School Games at Loughborough, this weekend.

*Former Athletics Kenya (AK) secretary general and vice president David Okeyo has been banned from athletics for life by the sport's governing body the IAAF for embezzling sponsorship money.

Okeyo, who was also a member of the IAAF Council, was one of three AK bosses charged with various breaches of the IAAF ethics code in November 2015 and has been suspended ever since.

The other two were AK's long-serving president Isaiah Kiplagat and the organisation's former treasurer Joseph Kinyua.

The evidence of corruption against all three men is laid out in a 74-page written decision by the IAAF Ethics Board - but Kiplagat died in 2016 and Kinyua was found to be not subject to the IAAF ethics code as he has never held any international federation posts.

Okeyo, on the other hand, was a member of various IAAF committees for more than 20 years and was found to have diverted a share of nearly £1million of Nike's sponsorship deal with AK for his personal use between 2004 and 2012.

In its final remarks, the IAAF Ethics Board panel decision said: "The misconduct in this matter resulted in the diversion of substantial funds that could have been used to develop athletics in Kenya.

"Kenya...is a country that excels at athletics, something of which many Kenyans are justly proud.

'This decision affirms the fundamental principle that the IAAF Ethics Code requires that the funds of Athletics Kenya should be used to promote Kenya's continued excellence in the sport and not diverted for private gain."
