Astronaut to visit society

BRITISH astronuat Major Tim Peake, will be visiting Sheffield as a gust of the city’s astronomical society.

Major Peake will be presenting a talk entitled Astronaut training and human space flight – the next steps at Sheffield University’s Firth Hall on Wednesday at 7pm.

Admission is £3 and, as there is limited capacity, it is advisable to turn up early.

Since his selection for astronaut training with the European Space Agency in 2009, Tim has experienced weightlessness, spent 12 days living under the ocean and lived in a cave for a week.

In his talk he will give an insight into what it takes to prepare for spaceflight and the challenges awaiting Human Spaceflight beyond the International Space Station.
