HIGHWAYS Agency officials have announced they are continuing their ‘environmental assessment’ of plans to open the hard shoulder of the M1 near Sheffield as a fourth lane.
No date has been set for the project to be carried out.
Assessment is continuing after safety concerns were raised by police and Sheffield Heeley MP Meg Munn.
A spokeswoman for the Highways Agency said: “Work on the environmental assessment is ongoing. With regards to the M1 junction 32 to 35a scheme, we intend to start construction in 2013/14.”
