AN Olympian and daredevil champion cliff diver shared his expertise with Sheffield’s young stars of the future.
Blake Aldridge, who competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games with Tom Daley, held a one-off training session with the City of Sheffield Diving Club at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre.
The 10m synchro diver, aged 30, worked with the young city divers to improve and perfect their diving technique.
In 2010 he was crowned European Cliff Diving Champion and later this year will compete in the Red Bull World Cliff Diving Championship.
Richard Apps, general manager at Ponds Forge, said: “It was a great chance for the young divers to learn from such an experienced diver like Blake. We think it’s really important for the young athletes to learn from external coaches to provide them with a well rounded coaching experience.”
Diver Jordan Houlden, 14 said: “The workshop was great fun and it was brilliant for us to be able to watch and learn from such a successful international diver.”
