Teams from across Sheffield are set to take part in the first Asian Football Awards Fives tournament.

The AFA is a tournament open to Asian players and teams and is designed to encourage, support and develop talent within Asian communities.

The Sheffield heat takes place at the Goals Soccer Centre, Norfolk Park, on Sunday June 9 from 1pm.

The winning team will then progress to the national AFA Fives final in West London in August.

Scouts from the professional game will be at the heats and on finals day.

The overall winner will get a training day at Liverpool FC’s training facility in Melwood and enjoy a table at the Asian Football Awards at Wembley Stadium.

Gaynor Wand, Goals Sheffield general manager, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to support and showcase the talent coming through at grassroots level within our local Asian community.

“We look forward to seeing as many teams as possible.”

Entry costs £30 per team of eight which can include up to three players of a non-Asian background. To register, call 0114 2726700.
