MORE than 700 pupils from eight primary schools in Chesterfield participated in a painting contest run by Chesterfield in Bloom.

The competition has been running for six years and kickstarts the town’s activities for the annual Chesterfield in Bloom competition.

One of the judges, James Pogson, from Northern Tea Merchants, said the standard of paintings was ‘fantastic’ adding: “It was so difficult to decide on the final winners as the children had all created such great designs – I just wanted to give them all a prize.”

The winning artists – who have not yet been announced – will have their work replicated onto banners that will be put up around the town.
