Arsonists wreak havoc in South Yorkshire

A fire started outside the front door of a house in Sheffield is under investigation.

The blaze on Popple Street, Page Hall, was discovered at 2.15am on Sunday.

Later that day firefighters in the city were called out to a van torched on Deerlands Avenue, Parson Cross.

Over the weekend Sheffield firefighters dealt with a wheelie bin set alight in the porch of an unoccupied bungalow on Foster Way, High Green and a van fire on Framlingham Road, Arbourthorne.

In the early hours of yesterday a car was set alight on Grange Road, Moorends, Doncaster.

Last night Barnsley firefighters were called out to industrial wheelie bin blaze on Main Street, Goldthorpe and a car set alight on Woodland Terrace, Grimesthorpe.

Witnesses to anything suspicious, or anyone with information about those responsible for starting the fires, should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
