Arsonists hunted over spate of vehicle fires in South Yorkshire

Arsonists are being hunted by the police over a spate of car and van fires across South Yorkshire.

A vehicle found burning in Worksop Road, Aston, Rotherham, at 1am was so badly damaged firefighters were unable to determine the make or model.

Last night Sheffield firefighters dealt with a Toyota Yaris which was torched in Woodthorpe Road, Woodthorpe and a BMW set alight in Saxonlea Court, Manor.

Rotherham crews dealt with a Renault Megane was set alight in Davis Street, Clifton and a Ford Transit van fired in Houghton Road, North Anston.

A car found burning in Almholme Lane, Almholme, Doncaster, was burnt out.

Firefighters also dealt with grassland set on fire off Station Road, Worsbrough Dale, Barnsley and some trees burnt on Little Common Lane, Kimberworth, Rotherham.

Witnesses to any of the incidents or anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
